Transcend s New StoreJet 18M HDD

Storage and multimedia products maker Transcend has announced the availability of the StoreJet 18M, an addition to its line of StoreJet portable hard drives in India. It offers speeds of 4200 RPM and 8MB buffer.

Sporting a two-tone contrast color scheme, the 120GB portable HDD comes with a built-in 1.8-inch mini-size hard drive and feels similar in size and weight to a deck of playing cards. StoreJet 18M is based on Transcend's StoreJet 25M offering shockproof features in a compact form. It features a dual-stage shock-protection system that incorporates internal suspension technology with an extra-durable, vibration/impact-dampening silicone outer shell, says the company.

The StoreJet 18M also meets rigorous U.S. military drop-test standards (MIL-STD-810F 516.5-Transit Drop) and offers protection against both vibration and impact damage, making it one of the most robust portable hard drives available, claims Transcend.

The hard disk is rounded and smooth, with a silicone exterior finish intended to offer a pleasant tactile feel and help prevent damage from accidental slips or falls.

Compliant with USB 2.0 specifications, StoreJet 18M features a "OneTouch" auto-backup button that lets users instantly backup and synchronize data with their notebook or desktop PC. The HDD's bundle includes Transcend's StoreJet elite software pack.

Other features include OneTouch Auto-Backup function, an LED that indicates power status and data transfer activity, and Hi-Speed data transfer rates up to 480Mb/s.

The hard disk is USB powered and therefore, no external power or battery is needed.

The ultra-portable StoreJet 18M HDD has been priced for Rs. 6,600. It comes with a two year warranty
